Todd-Scott....so hot right now.....Todd-Scott. Need we say more?
I’m sure you’ve all been wondering what’s been going on in the world of Scott since my bikegame dot com interview a few months ago. Well, if you said ‘Beer,’ you’re certainly right. But there’s really so much more to me than having a fridge full of really, really good beer.

I spent a week out in LA earlier this month at the bike game track for Nationals. All in all, a good experience. Had some good results, saw lots of old friends (some of whom were a whole lot fatter than the last time I saw them), and—well—drank some beers.
In fact, ‘Roid Landis handed out medals for the team pursuit, in which my team placed 2nd. Well, I mentioned that I had some Stone IPA in my car and he should come join me, but he refused. Maybe he was worried about out-of-competition testing the next day and the beer would throw off his testosterone:epitestosterone ratio? Otherwise, it seems like every single person in California owns a BT Superbike, even though they cost about $5000 frame only.

I’m happy to say that none of those fuckers beat my Old Style Merckx that cost a whole lot less. Finally, probably the most impressive performance of the week was Sarah Hammer in everything. The other women didn’t have a chance, so it was really more pathetic than impressive. In the scratch race, she chased a group of chicks that had ½ a lap on the field with 3km to go, caught them in 1km, pulled for the final 2km, and no one could come around at the end. Damn.

Later that week I headed back to my Alma Mater for homecoming. I was also interviewing for med school, but that was only secondary. Damn I love going back to Dartmouth. For one, the classic New England brews are hard to beat. Harpoon, Long Trail, and Smuttynose brew some fantastic stuff. Smutty Pumpkin is by far the best pumpkin around, and bottles fit so nicely into shoes for transport on the airplane back home. The bonfire was certainly all that I remembered it to be, and hazing freshman will never go out of style.

What do I have coming up in the next few weeks? Well, this Sunday I’m doing the Chicago Marathon. Yes, running marathon. For some reason, I thought it’d be a great when I first thought of it this spring. But given that my last bike race was on Oct 6 and the marathon is Oct 22, that’s not much running time. Hopefully running x-country back in high school will help things out. Afterward, there’ll be a party highlighted by the drinking of my homebrewed Oktoberfest. Then it’s off to Boston for a science conference for a few days. And by science conference I mean hanging out with friends who live there when I’m supposed to be learning about modeling human cancers in mice.
To cap it all off, Beeradvocate dot com’s Return of the Belgian Beer Fest is the last night of the conference. This is beer gaming to the extreme. Over 200 beers are lined up for the night. And I want to try them all. If I survive the night, I’ll be sure to talk about it in my next rant.
But until then, happy whatever you’re doing.
So say your prayers, take your vitamins, and stay tuned for Scott’s next installement.
